Cement is the second-most used commodity in the world (second only to water). It is also responsible for nearly 8% of carbon emissions globally. Rather than focus on small problems that will result in marginal moves of the needle, Furno is tackling one of the heaviest industries on the planet to put an end to climate change. Furno is redesigning and decarbonizing the cement manufacturing process with novel kiln and combustion technologies, both of which increase efficiency, dramatically reduce reactor size and costs, and eliminate harmful emissions (CO2, NOx, SOx, CO, mercury, and others). Furno’s mission is to make the production of cement accessible, modular, and emissions-free.
